Mountain Capital Partners to Run Nordic Valley

SAM Magazine—Durango, Colo., April 18, 2018—Mountain Capital Partners, which owns Purgatory and Arizona Snowbowl among other resorts, has entered into an operating agreement with Skyline Mountain Base, LLC, to manage and operate Nordic Valley Ski Resort, Utah.

“We’re excited to add Nordic Valley to our family of ski resorts and begin working with the resort staff,” said James Coleman, managing partner of Mountain Capital Partners. “Nordic Valley is a fantastic ski area and is consistent with our goals as a company of making skiing affordable to everyone in order to continue growing the sport.” NordicWeb

Located in Eden, Utah, 25 minutes from downtown Ogden, Nordic Valley was established in 1968. It has 140 skiable acres, 23 trails, four lifts, a terrain park, and snowmaking on 60 percent of its terrain. The area receives an average of 300 inches of snow annually, and has a 965 foot vertical.

“We are very happy to partner with Mountain Capital Partners, who will run the operations of Nordic Valley starting this month,” said Laurent Jouffray, Skyline board member. “We’re committed to the success of the resort and its future developments.”

Mountain Capital’s first step was to reduce the cost of a season’s pass to $299 for adults. That includes unlimited access with no blackout dates to Nordic Valley, as well as to Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort and Pajarito Mountain, N.M., and Hesperus Ski Area, Colo., also managed by Mountain Capital Partners. In addition, Mountain Capital Partners’ Power Pass ($599 for adults) will now include Nordic Valley. That pass provides unlimited access to all the aforementioned areas, including Purgatory and Snowbowl, plus three free days at several partner ski resorts, including Copper Mountain, Colo., Grand Targhee, Wyo., and Powder Mountain, Utah.

Beyond its winter operations, Nordic Valley offers a variety of summer activities as well, including lift-served mountain biking and hiking, an 18-hole disc golf course, a 400-foot-long slip-n-slide, bungee trampoline, and the Nordic Nights Saturday evening concert-series.
